Ethnicities and Culture

Day 1: Arrival in Dakar

Arrival in Dakar, where you will be greeted and transferred to your 4-star hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Dakar/Saint-Louis

After breakfast, depart from Dakar towards Lac Rose. Enjoy a visit to the lake and explore the surrounding Peulh villages by 4x4. Lunch at a lakeside restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to the city of Saint-Louis, with stops at traditional Wolof villages along the way. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Saint-Louis 

After breakfast, explore the historic colonial town of Saint-Louis, which was once the capital of Senegal. Take a carriage tour through the streets and alleys rich with history. Continue to the Langue de Barbarie National Park, crossing the Senegal River by boat. Lunch at a traditional restaurant in Langue de Barbarie. In the afternoon, visit Mbakhana village and meet with local dignitaries and traditional chiefs. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Saint-Louis/Toubacouta

After breakfast, depart from Saint-Louis for the Saloum region. Visit the vibrant weekly markets and enjoy lunch in Kaolack. In the afternoon, explore the town and its central market, renowned for printed fabrics and medicinal plants. Continue towards Toubacouta on the riverbank. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Toubacouta/Ziguinchor

After breakfast, depart for Casamance via Gambia. Visit the city of Banjul, the capital of Gambia and a former British colony. Lunch in Banjul, then continue in the afternoon to Ziguinchor, the capital of Casamance. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6:  Ziguinchor/Cap Skirring/Ziguinchor

After breakfast, explore the Lower Casamance region with its animist villages, ancestral rituals, and impressive vegetation. Experience animism, an ancient traditional religion of the South, which remains vibrant and forms the basis of a culture where nature and humanity are intertwined. Lunch and relaxation at the beautiful white sandy beaches of Cap Skirring, under the shade of coconut palms. Return to Ziguinchor in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7:  Ziguinchor/Saly 

After breakfast, depart from Ziguinchor towards Saly via the Trans-Gambian Highway. Visit Diola, Mandinka, and Serer villages along the way. Enjoy lunch en route and arrive in Saly in the afternoon. Relax at this popular seaside resort. Dinner at a typical restaurant specializing in seafood. Overnight stay.

Day 8: Saly/Airport

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day for relaxation and beach activities. Lunch on-site. Depart for Dakar in the late afternoon. Dinner at a traditional restaurant, followed by transfer to Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) for your departure flight. Assistance with check-in and departure.
